The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government programme providing funding and support to people with permanent and significant disability. Administered by the NDIA, the NDIS gives participants choice and control over their supports, with funding tailored to individual goals and needs.
- 02
The NDIS supports eligible people with disability who meet the Scheme's age, residence, disability or early intervention requirements. Generally, you must be younger than 65 when you apply and meet the relevant Australian residency requirements. Children younger than 9 may access support through the NDIS early childhood approach. If you are unsure about eligibility, our team can help you understand where to find the right information.

Agency Managed: NDIA pays registered providers directly. Plan Managed: A plan manager pays providers on your behalf; you can use registered and unregistered providers. Self Managed: You manage your own funding; maximum flexibility, use any provider. Lifest works with participants under all three management types.

ILO is a flexible, person-centred approach to home and living support under the NDIS, for participants who want a unique, tailored living situation such as living with a host family or other bespoke arrangements. ILO is not suitable for participants needing 24/7 rostered support (SIL is more appropriate) or registered nursing care.

STA is an NDIS-funded support providing a participant with temporary accommodation and support for a short period, typically to give their usual carer a break. STA can be funded for up to 28 days per year in a participant's NDIS plan. Lifest can assist with in-home respite and, where appropriate, STA.
